If you’ve spent just a mere five minutes on TikTok, chances are you’ve come across the effortless, casually cool clips from Melbourne-based creative Katherine Denton. What simply started as a creative release in the midst of the state’s long lockdown, has led Denton to become a fixture on the app, amassing a following of more than 70,000 in a few short months.
Tuning in, it’s clear why Denton has seen such a wave of popularity, sharing everything from candid chats in her bathroom (of which, a Dusen Dusen striped robe has become an iconic feature), to vlog-style clips and behind-the-scenes looks at her life studying gemmology to become a Gemologist — all of which, of course, are expertly laced with her signature style.
Here, Denton shares a peek at some of her fashion, beauty and homeware favourites.
“Blue jeans, white tee, blazer, either a mule or loafer and a fun bag! Or a silk pant and matching silk shirt.”
“I asked a couple of friends how they would describe my individual style and they said timeless with a twist. Which I completely agree with! My outfits are generally super simple but I like to add colourful or bold accents with my accessories."
“This is hard! Every piece of jewellery I own and wear has been gifted to me to signify a milestone in my life. If I had to choose, probably my watch. My husband gifted this to me on the morning of our wedding day as a surprise.”
“This season I’m lusting after… Coats! Big oversized coats.”
“Hands down the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter. If I could only use one makeup product moving forward, this would be it!”
“Some of my non-negotiable skincare products include an oil cleanser, a toner, sunscreen (!!), a gel moisturiser (I have super oily skin) and something to keep the lips hydrated.”
“Three of my non-negotiable makeup staples are the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter, this gives such a natural glow and evens out my skin tone. The Lancôme Hypnôse waterproof mascara, this is my all time favourite mascara and the Chanel Cream-Gel bronzer."
“I have a few favourite Australian homeware brands, but my top three are Merci Masion, Lucy Montgomery and Dinosaur Designs. Merci Mason is simple yet striking, Lucy Montgomery brings warmth to any room and Dinosaur Designs — well there isn’t really anything quite like it!”
“Three of my favourite places to dine in Melbourne include Gimlet, France Soir & Kenzan.”
