When you immerse yourself in the world of beauty—both professionally and personally—it’s unsurprising you pick up a talent for scouring the best there is on offer. Such is the case for Trudi Jaye, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Retreatment Botanics, a natural premium skincare brand formulated with potent phytoactive ingredients. With an admittedly “long time passion” in skin wellness and supporting women in their quest for holistic self-betterment, Jaye’s spent years innovating in the field, alongside Olivia Newton-John no less, to come up with Australian-made, natural products inspired by the luxurious health treatments offered at the iconic Gaia Retreat & Spa, set in the stunning Byron Bay hinterland.
From Sydney to New York and now to the beaches of Northern NSW, Jaye has shared the beauty favourites that bring her joy each day, what products she’d trust to nurture and reset, as well as the natural makeup staples that give a year-round glow.
“To me, real beauty exists at a soul level. It’s the love and compassion that we share with the world, the light within us all. When we nurture our being, body and environment with care and respect, our beauty naturally shines through.” "A daily skin superfood indulgence I never miss! For topical beauty, I regularly repurchase Eco Minerals Blush in the shade Dreamtime.”
“Three makeup staples I love are the Sirena Real Bronze by Chantecaille: it gives a sun-kissed glow, without the sun damage. Frosting Balmie Highlighter by Axiology: a 3-in-1 multi-use for eyes, lips and cheeks. Milla Mineral Lip Gloss by Sugar Venom: plumps & nourishes the lips.”
“An unexpected beauty item you’d find in my vanity is the Sculpt & Lift Micro Vibration roller. This rose quartz facial tool vibrates with 6,000 sonic vibrations helping to stimulate lymph circulation, instantly depuffing the eyes and face." “Potent and active serums! Serums contain the highest concentration of nutrients and are my number one non-negotiable for transforming the skin. I love to layer the Retreatment Botanics serums; first I apply Kakadu Brightening Serum, an intensive vitamin C treatment, followed by our face oil elixir Restore Serum—this is my desert island (can’t live without) product."
"The path to clear, fresh skin starts with daily deep cleansing. My morning ritual begins with the Retreatment Botanics Purifying Gel Cleanser. It’s super hydrating and rich in papaya enzymes. At night, I wash away pollution and makeup with our calming Radiance Cream Cleanser. Removing with a muslin cloth gently buffs away dead skin for a super smooth finish.”
"First I target pigmentation and support collagen with Kakadu Brightening Serum. I then apply Restore Serum to plump and visibly minimise fine lines. To revive my eyes, I gently press the Firming Eye Contour Cream around the eyes—I use it on the lip areas too.”
"To promote a resilient, healthy skin barrier, Ultra Rich Moisturiser seals in deep hydration, antioxidants and vitamins, leaving my skin super soft and dewy.”
“Reatreatment Botanics products were originally developed for the award-winning nourishing facials at the Gaia Day Spa in Byron Bay, so I’m all about recreating those amazing results at home. One of my go-to’s is a polish+masque ritual. It’s an easy way to achieve that just-had-a-facial glow."
"I start by lighting an essential oil candle (Palo Santo by MIZU) and soak in a warm relaxing bath. I add a couple of drops of Calm Signature Blend into the water, taking a few deep inhalations. I then apply the Refining Face Polish, softly massaging the jojoba beads into my skin." “Next, I brush the Instant Glow Face Masque onto my face. The emu apple and kale extracts deliver nutrients while the fruit acids and enzymes dissolve dullness. After about 20 mins I remove the masque with a soft muslin washcloth—it leaves my skin feeling velvety soft. I finish with a face massage using my serums.”
“I choose to use natural scents, and I especially love the sensory journey of pure essential oils with their therapeutic qualities for the mind, body and spirit. One of my favourites is Australian Sandalwood. The rich woody aromas are so calming—it’s one of the best kept secrets for relieving stress and supporting sleep. A perfect companion during the pandemic."
