With a mission to raise awareness and empower young women worldwide, the annual campaign sees $20 of every Pink purchase donated to breast cancer organisations.
Sadly around 1000 young Australian women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year, which can be prevented by noticing early signs that can be found with regular checks.
So why hair tools? Well, two physical features that can strongly shape how women see themselves, their breasts, and their hair, can be taken away by breast cancer. To raise awareness, ghd has added their campaign message TAKE CONTROL NOW onto these tools as a visual reminder for women to check their breasts regularly. By having the confidence to action these self-checks, and seek medical advice if they notice something different, they hope to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s mission to have Zero Deaths from breast cancer.
Here are three simple steps to check yourself:
STEP ONE: TOUCH
Check if you feel anything unusual. Start with your hand behind your head and use the flats of your fingers to check your arms, working down to your breasts. Then starting at the nipple, move the flats of your fingers around then move up and around your collarbone. Feel for a lump, swelling or pain that is there all or most of the time.
STEP TWO: LOOK
Check if you can see anything different. Put your hands on your hips, then pop your shoulders and elbows forward. Look for changes in skin texture such as puckering or dimpling, changes in nipple appearance or direction and any unusual discharge.
STEP THREE: REPORT
Report any new or unusual changes to your doctor.
